"Gelatin printmaking is a planographic process, which means one prints from a flat surface. It resembles traditional methods such a wood block, etching and lithography, in that one develops the image on a printing plate. Instead of copper, stone or wood, this method uses a plate made of gelatin and it's addictive!!
I am a local self taught artist in rural Mid-Devon and have been here for 17 years. In that time I have approached a completely different way of life to my life in the city.
I make Gelli Plate Printing, Mixed Media and Digital Art
I live very close to Exmoor and it never ceases to amaze me the views and wildlife I see when visiting.
I am inspired by nature and use leaves, feathers and all things around me to create textures for my artwork. Some of my works are digitally enhanced and I also use overlays to create shapes.
I also make books and shadow boxes.
The art of Gelli Plate printing is so addictive.
There are so so many ways to make an interesting print on the plate.
Virtually anything can be used to make patterns and textures with acrylic paint to produce wonderful images of all shapes and sizes. There is no limit to what you can use
I started Gelli Printing back in 2017 after seeing a clip on Facebook of the process and from then on I was hooked.
Since my early retirement from West Sussex Fire Brigade and moving to Devon, I have had the opportunity to improve and develop my interest in Woodwork and the use of reclaimed timber to make bespoke items of rustic furniture and other small items that interest me such as lamps, clocks, doorstops, boot jacks and many other items.
I mainly work with Oak and Pine and wherever possible I will use reclaimed timber.
Please contact me if you would like something made, I will be very happy to discuss any requirements you may have.
Many of the pieces that I have made can be viewed in the Gallery
